I.C.E. 1-Day Program

I.C.E. - Innovative Coaching & Education for U11 and U13 Hockey Players

What is the I.C.E. Program?

The I.C.E. Program at Southridge Academy is a hybrid, high-performance, full-day model designed to bring together elite hockey training and personalized academic support. This program is built for young student-athletes who want to excel both on the ice and in the classroom.

It works by combining:

  • On-ice training with Southridge Stars coaches

  • Academic instruction powered by Southridge Academy, aligned with the Alberta curriculum

  • A schedule and model that supports athletes’ unique demands and learning styles

Why it works?

On-Ice Training

  • 2 × 1-hour on-ice sessions each day, focusing on skill development, conditioning, and gameplay.

  • Integrated hockey skill development: power skating, shooting, positional play, dryland training, leadership and team culture.

  • Flexible schedule to support athlete travel, tournament demands, and schooling.

Academic Support

  • 2.5 hours + of personalized academic instruction every day.

  • Curriculum aligned with Alberta Education standards to ensure students keep pace with their academic peers.

  • Delivered by certified teachers and specialists with expertise in learning differences (including ADHD, dyslexia, etc.).

  • Focus on building executive functioning, metacognition (how students learn), self-advocacy, and confidence in both academics and athletics.

How it works?

  • Uninterrupted learning, unstoppable growth. Our model ensures that training intensity does not sacrifice academic progress.

  • Strong minds. Strong bodies. We believe that athletic excellence and academic achievement go hand in hand.

  • Built for neurodiverse high-performance athletes. Whether a student needs additional support, learns differently, or competes at a high level, the I.C.E. Program is adaptable.
