FAQs - The Who, What, Where , Why and When
What makes Southridge Academy different from traditional school?
We focus on how students learn, not just what they learn. With small class sizes, individualized pacing, and flexible scheduling, students receive targeted instruction and support that is often not possible in large classroom settings. We are committed to delivering a high, individualized education that meets all Provincial Standards through innovative Homeschooling methodologies.
What programs does Southridge Academy offer?
We offer two pathways:
-
The I.C.E. Program (Innovative Coaching & Education) – a full-day program combining on-ice training and academics
-
The 3-Day Premier Academy Program – a homeschool-supported model with three in-person learning days and two flexible learning days
What is the I.C.E. Program?
The I.C.E. Program is a full-day integrated model where students receive structured academic instruction alongside high-quality on-ice training. The day is intentionally designed so learning and athletic development complement one another.
-
Cohorts run every other Thursday at Great Plains Recreation Facility from 8:15am - 2:30pm
What is the 3-Day Premier Academy Program?
The 3-Day Premier Academy Program allows students to attend Southridge Academy three days per week for structured learning and on-ice training sessions, while the remaining two days are flexible and self-guided. Families receive weekly learning plans to ensure students remain on track academically. There is also optional fieldtrips throughout the term that students can attend that provide hands on learning and real life experiences like volunteering, financial literacy and mental health seminars.
How do I know which program is right for my child?
The I.C.E. Program is ideal for students who thrive with structure and a full-day routine.
The 3-Day Program is well-suited for families seeking flexibility, reduced burnout, or accommodation for training schedules, learning differences, or travel.
Our team works closely with families to help determine the best fit.
